12/17/2023 0 Comments Lio rush moth gear![]() ![]() “I want to take you back to the first time I was in AEW. AEW is such an incredible place to be, and it would be foolish of us to carry on any kind of, whatever it was, because it was pretty random and wild. I think we agreed to disagree, and we’re about to be working together now. I think it came down to two very strong personalities and two very different eras of wrestling. “Me and Mark Henry’s relationship is super cordial now. Now, with both men on Tony Khan’s payroll at AEW, will they be able to co-exist? Sounds like it, as Lio told Renee Paquette on the latest Oral Sessions they’ve come to an understanding and are ready to move forward at their new company: The real-life feud simmered down for a while, but flared up in a big way after Rush was released by WWE last spring. Henry was irked the younger wrestler didn’t take his counsel on behind-the-scenes issues, and criticized Rush’s money management skills while defending wrestling’s locker room culture. Lio spoke about pay issues and what he felt were outdated, and racially insensitive, hazing practices. ![]() exclusively spoke with Spike Trivet prior to his cage match against Cara Noir.Back in 2019, rumors of heat on Lio Rush backstage at WWE led to a public debate between Rush and Mark Henry. What next? Who knows, but I for one cannot wait to see whatever it may be. They’ve had to take their fair share of unfair stick in my opinion and yesterday is credit to them to stick to their guns, have a great roster to work alongside them and get a wider fan base to slowly realise that a Sunday afternoon in Camden is better than any other form of entertainment you can find. A sell out show, popular names returning AND a major double header with Defy Wrestling the day before AEW’s ALL IN shows that time and time again, the owners Martyn and Lee want to make this promotion something fans love to be at. The show was peppered with many announcements and to hear that former champions, Mark Haskins and Nathan Cruz will be back to compete in the SSS16 tournament was music to many fans ears. Millie McKenzie also deserves a chance to shine at the top of the Women’s division too and I feel once she gets her shot, Lana Austin may need to think about singing full time as her time as champ may be up…would an LA Taylor turn also be something we see down the line as she realises her own individual potential? For me, the guy has delivered month after month for well over a year now and I think they could make a special main event. I, for one, would love to see Leon Slater have a chance against Trivet. His reign deserves to go on and it will be interesting to see who steps up to take him on next. We spoke to Spike Trivet last week and I do believe his win cements him as one of the top guys in independent wrestling. Overall, I felt that the show was really geared around the superb main event. Steel Cage Match For The PROGRESS World Championship The 0121 (Man Like DeReiss & Dan Moloney) defeated CPF (Callum Newman & Maverick Mayhew). Millie McKenzie defeated Skye Smitson (w/LA Taylor & Lana Austin). ![]() Leon Slater defeated Lio Rush, Robbie X and Danny Black. There was a real vibrancy about the crowd as the show was waiting to begin and outside of the huge main event, the set of matches seemed to point to bigger shows ahead, especially with the massive Super Strong Style 16 tournament happening at the end of May. I haven’t seen the Ballroom as packed for a show in over 5 years, and it is a testament to the great roster and team behind the scenes that this happened. The culmination of a 2+ year storyline took place yesterday at a sold-out Electric Ballroom as Spike Trivet defeated Cara Noir to retain the PROGRESS Men’s World Championship.Ī brutal, 30-minute match saw Trivet win clean and Cara requiring medical attention as fans left the building, with a hospital visit following soon after. ![]()
